Vested interests behind violence?
The attack on media persons by advocates on Friday has been widely criticised. Express takes a look at the incident in d..

BANGALORE: Is Friday’s ugly incident triggered by vested political interests? Such a rumour was heard in the corridor of the City Civil Court. The rumours  came after a pitched battle between the advocates and police. Senior advocates have expressed regret for the violent incident in which some advocates were caught on camera attacking media personnel. Speaking to Express, a senior advocate, who did not wish to be quoted, strongly felt it to be the handiwork of some unforeseen elements backed by some vested interests to create law and order problem and found the media personnel as soft target.  Without naming any organisation or political party for Friday’s incident, the advocate said that no such incident could happen unless instigated by some vested interests. “Otherwise where was the necessity for anybody to attack media personnel without any provocation in this manner,” he questioned.   There may be several dimensions to such incidents including the handiwork of the party in power, which may trigger such incidents to divert attention of the people from any issue it was entangled in or the opposition parties trying to create law and order problems so that they can pin down the Government. He also recalled the violent communal incidents during 1989 in the state which led to the loss of office to the then chief minister Veerendra Patil. “Proper inquiry would unravel the truth behind the incident,” he added.  He also blamed the media, which raised a hue and cry but failed to register a complaint with the police and subsequently will ignore the whole matter until a next such incident happens. Likening the law to a machinery, the advocate said that unless it gets ignited  through a complaint it would not get activated.
