New Delhi: Around 40 per cent polling was recorded till noon on Wednesday in the fourth phase of Assembly elections in 57 constituencies in West Bengal.
Deputy Election Commissioner Anant Kumar, who visited several booths in Burdwan district where elections are being held for 26 seats, expressed satisfaction with arrangements and said there were long queues at the polling booths.

Central paramilitary forces manned the polling booths while vigil has been intensified along West Bengal's border with Jharkhand and Bangladesh to prevent the entry of undesirable elements, officials said.
They said Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) malfunctioned for a brief period in four booths in Rampurhat subdivision in Birbhum district but were immediately replaced.
Reports from the three districts said voters, including women and the elderly, braved the sweltering heat to exercise their franchise since Wednesday morning.
Murshidabad district magistrate N Manjunatha Prasad said there was a "vote boycott" on local issues at two booths in Barwan and one each in Sagardighi and Bharatpur constituencies in the district.
Burdwan district magistrate Subrata Gupta removed a polling officer at Bhatar constituency after it was found that the official was also the presiding officer there, officials said.
