New Delhi: Showbiz is all about taking a chance. Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor who were last seen sharing screen in Delhi 6 are back together with Players. A fitter Abhishek and cool chic Sonam look great together in the first theatrical trailer of Players, released lately.
After romancing in the streets of Chandni Chowk, both of them will now be seen in action-packed roles in Players. Though both the films belong to different genre, the chemistry between the lead couple also matters a lot.
Delhi 6 had a scattered storyline, which had very less scope for Abhishek and Sonam as a couple. Then newcomer, Sonam Kapoor was hardly seen in the film. Probably the 'Kala Bandar' was more important to the story than her. Even her look in the film was similar to her previous release Saawariya. May be the audiences were already bored of her girl-next-door image.
Though Sonam is counted amongst the top league of Bollywood stars for her style and surname, she has very little to her credit in terms of Bollywood hits. Vying for a box office success, Sonam finally underwent a transformation for Players. Her stylish biker babe look in the film looks refreshing. In the promo, Sonam can be seen showing off her middle finger.
In an interview, Sonam revealed that she shot for Mausam, Thank You and Players in the same year. As her previous releases this year bombed at the box office, she is really looking forward to the release of Players. It is the official remake of The Italian Job. Sonam's character in Players is inspired by Charlize Theron in the original film.
If sources are to be believed, Abhishek Bachchan signed the dotted line without even hearing the script. The actor, who plays the key role in Players, earned rave reviews for his film cop act in Dum Maro Dum. In Players Abhishek plays a stylish, techno thief. We will have to wait till the films’ release to find out how convincing he looks.
Delhi 6 was released almost two years back. Abhishek and Sonam have learnt the tricks of the trade better in these two years. With a phenomenal promotion plan in place and a high-budget, multi-starrer film in store, Abhi and Sonam are all set to rock.
The first trailer of Players has been well received by the fans. Abhishek Bachchan posted on twitter, "Wow! Thanks a lot guys. Never had such a unanimously positive reaction to any promo of mine."
Apart from Sonam and Abhishek, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bobby Deol and Sikandar Kher are also a part of Players being released on January 6, 2011.
