The man accused of abducting and raping a 24-year-old woman in Muktsar in Punjab has been arrested. The development comes a month after he was caught on camera dragging her out of her office in broad daylight on March 25. He then allegedly kidnapped and raped her.
The accused has been identified as Gurjinder alias Jojo. Police claim the woman knew the assailant and the two belonged to the same village.
Despite her yelling for help, none of the bystanders helped her. Police, too, registered an FIR in the case five days after the incident took place.
The young Dalit woman and her family has approached the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for help. The Commission has summoned the police officials seeking details of the probe into the incident.
