Eid-ul Fitr is being celebrated across the world on Saturday.

New Delhi: With fervour and enthusiasm, Eid-ul Fitr is being celebrated across the world on Saturday. The day marks the end of the Islamic Holy month of Ramzan and the beginning of the next lunar month, Shawwal.

Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting. The month lasts for nearly a month and is based on the visual sightings of the moon. During the month, Muslims abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.

President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their Eid wishes to the people.

"On the joyous occasion of Idu'l Fitr, I convey warm greetings and good wishes to my fellow citizens, particularly to all Muslim brothers and sisters... Let us on this day forgive and forget our difference," Mukherjee said.
