NewJeans Teams Up With British Museum For Special Collaboration Amid ADOR-HYBE Battle
In a special collaboration with the British Museum, NewJeans members will extend their voices for a Korean audio guide.

Amid the ongoing controversy and drama around its parent company, popular K-pop band NewJeans has announced a new project, teaming up with the British Museum. In a statement issued by their agency, ADOR, on Tuesday, May 14, the five members, including Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, will record voice introductions for significant exhibits within the Korean Gallery at the museum. “We are honoured and delighted to be part of this meaningful initiative, which highlights the elegance and beauty of Korea. We hope that many people will tune in,” the agency’s statement read.

According to Korean media reports, the narrations will include an introduction to a porcelain moon jar from the 1392–1910 Joseon Kingdom, a 14th-century blue-and-white inlaid celadon vase, a mural depicting the Four Heavenly Kings of Buddhist mythology, and a recreated 18th-century study room built using traditional Korean techniques. They will also provide commentary on selective Roman-British artefacts, including Emperor Hadrian’s bronze head.

The audio tour featuring NewJeans’ voices will be accessible through the British Museum’s guide app. In a video shared by the museum’s official Instagram, the members expressed their excitement over the special collaboration and said, “We are here to share some very exciting news with friends and fans of the British Museum. We are so excited to announce a really special project that we have been working on alongside the British Museum Audio app. We are happy to be able to convey the beautiful works of art from our country and historical relics from around the world displayed at the museum through our voices.”

“Now you can even tune in as they talk you through some of the most exciting and beautiful objects in the Museum, from the bronze head of Roman emperor Hadrian to a rare Korean ‘Moon jar’,” the post’s caption read.

Future musical projects

The Korean girl band is currently gearing up for their musical comeback next week with their upcoming album, How Sweet. The album will have a total of four songs including the titular track and the pre-released hit, Bubble Gum. Next, they will also debut in Japan with another album titled Supernatural on June 21, 2024, on the lines of a fan event at the Tokyo Dome.

On the other hand, the band’s ongoing collaborations with Takashi Murakami and Hiroshi Fujiwara have also heightened anticipation.
