After indulging in the vibrant celebrations of Holi, you not only get tired from the inside but you need rejuvenation from the outside as well. Your skin and hair may especially need some extra care and attention to recover from the harsh effects of colors, sun exposure, and environmental pollutants. Sanath Dutta, Wellness Expert & Co-founder, Eliea Wellness suggests five self-care practices to pamper yourself post-Holi:
- Gentle Cleansing and ExfoliationStart your post-Holi pampering session with a gentle cleansing to remove any residual color, dirt, and impurities from your skin. Choose a mild, sulfate-free cleanser that won’t strip away your skin’s natural oils. Wet your face and apply the cleanser, gently massaging it in circular motions and then rinse off. After this, apply an exfoliating scrub to get rid of dead skin cells. Use a gentle exfoliant with natural ingredients like oatmeal, almond, or sugar. Massage the scrub onto damp skin in gentle circular motions, especially focusing on areas like elbows, knees, and feet. After exfoliating, rinse off with lukewarm water.
- Nourishing Hair MaskRevive the shine in your hair with the help of a nourishing mask to replenish moisture and restore vitality after exposure to harsh colors and sun damage. Choose a hair mask that has hydrating ingredients like coconut oil, argan oil, or shea butter to deeply condition and repair dry, damaged strands.
Apply the hair mask generously from roots to ends, focusing on areas that feel more dry or brittle. Gently massage the mask into your scalp to stimulate circulation and promote healthy hair growth. Leave the mask on for at 15-20 minutes and then rinse thoroughly following up with a mild shampoo and conditioner for smooth, silky hair.
Apply the face mask evenly to clean, dry skin, avoiding the eye and lip area. Keep it on your face for 15-20 minutes and let the mask do its magic. Finally, rinse off with water and pat your skin dry with a soft towel, following up with a lightweight moisturizer to lock in moisture and keep your skin feeling soft and supple.
You can also light some scented candles, play soft music, and sink into the warm, fragrant waters releasing all the tension and stress. Relax out by closing your eyes and taking deep breaths. The gentle warmth of the bath will help in soothing sore muscles and will relax you out. After soaking for 20-30 minutes, step out of the bath feeling refreshed, rejuvenated. Pat dry your skin with a soft towel and then apply moisturiser to lock moisture.
These self-care practices will help in reviving your skin and hair post Holi. This much needed relaxation and rejuvenation routine will strip away all the fatigue and will make you feel refreshed and energised.
