Director Muthaiya, known for his works such as Viruman, Marudhu and Komban, is set to provide a launchpad for his son, Vijay Muthaiya. He is directing a film which will mark the debut of Vijay Muthaiya, starring opposite Brigida Saga of Iravin Nizhal fame. The film will be a teenage drama set in Madurai, a backdrop often seen in Muthaiya’s films. Although the pooja for the film was held on March 27, filming had already commenced before that. Reports suggest that a significant portion of the film has already been shot.
Earlier, it was reported that Tamil actor Bharath had been finalised to play the antagonist in the film. Latest reports indicate that the yet untitled movie will feature two antagonists, with the second one being played by ace cinematographer M. Sukumarar. Interestingly, Sukumarar is also handling the cinematography for the film. If the report about M. Sukumarar playing the second villain is true, it will mark his acting debut. Sukumarar has previously worked on choreography for films like Kumki and Bhairava.
Initially, Muthiah had planned the film with Arun Vijay, but the actor declined the role. Subsequently, he approached both Vikram Prabhu and Gautham Karthik for the lead role. Due to an indefinite delay in obtaining their call sheet, he decided that the project would serve as an ideal launch vehicle for his son, Vijay Muthaiya.
The makers are aiming to complete the film in a single schedule and a theatre set has been constructed to shoot a pivotal action sequence. Produced by Ramesh Pandian under KKR Cinemas, the music for the film is composed by Jen Martin. Muthaiya is expected to unveil the title and first look of the film soon. While the release date of the movie has not yet been revealed, speculation suggests that it will hit theatres in the second half of the year.
