The Kingdom Of The Planet Of Apes is gearing up for a grand theatrical premiere on May 10. Directed by Wes Ball, the sci-fi-action features Freya Allan and Owen Teague in the lead. The narrative will follow a war between humans and chimpanzees where the former are held captive by the primates. With just a few weeks left before the release, the film’s PR stunt seems to have come strongly into action. In widely circulating online videos, visitors of a Californian beach received the shock of their lives after witnessing ape-disguised humans riding on horses at the shore — presumably a promotional act.

An Instagram page dropped a similar clip on the platform along with the caption, “Imagine bumping into these guys not knowing Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is coming out soon." The clip revealed a person, decked up in a furry ape costume and mask riding a horse on the beach.

Intrigued spectators present at the premises recorded the bizarrely hilarious phenomenon on their cellphones. Soon, two other people joined the cosplay trotting on the horses on the sand. The two artists even extended their chimpanzee-like arms forward displaying a fist-bump gesture to the person recording the clip.

Soon after the video went viral, the internet went into overdrive. Director Rusell Todd’s appreciatory comment read, “THIS is a great PR stunt! Love this franchise since I was a little kid." “This is pretty badass," wrote another. A user called the costumes “amazing". “That’s awesome and I can’t wait to see the movie," noted an excited movie buff.

The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the fourth segment of the popular Planet Of Apes franchise. The third part titled War For The Planet Of The Apes, released in 2017 had a successful run at the box office.

In The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Owen Teague slips into the character of a good-hearted chimpanzee Noa who attempts to stop the ape-man war conducted by the tyrannical ape leader Proximus Ceaser (Kevin Durand). He joins forces with a human named Mae (Freya Allan) and embarks on a mission to save both human and animal civilization.
