Mumbai: R.Balki's 'Paa' gave a fillip to the father-son duo, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek, on the silver screen with a whiff of freshness and sensitivity. As the film clocked six years of its existence in celluloid history, the megastar looked back at the memories in awe.
The 2009 film narrated the story of a 12-year-old boy named Auro (played by Amitabh), who is suffering from a rare genetic disorder called progeria. It was released on December 4.
“'Paa' six years gone by in a jiffy! Goodness! Had not Balki messaged me on this, I would never have known,” Big B tweeted.
The catch in the film was that R.Balki cast Abhishek as Big B's father and the twist worked well with the audience and the critics. The story was endearing, heart-warming and touching with hints of humour. Vidya Balan played Amitabh's mother.
After creating an impact at the box office, the film went on to win many honours including the National Film Award in 2010. Amitabh won the Best Actor award for his performance, while 'Paa' was also named the Best Hindi Film. It also received recognition in the Best Supporting Actress category (Arundathi Nag) and Best Make-up (Christien Tinsley and Dominie Till).
