Simran, originally named Rishibala Naval and born in Mumbai in 1976, entered the Hindi film industry in 1995. She rose to fame with her second film, Tere Mere Sapne, in 1997. A notable song from this film, Aankh Maare, drew the attention of Tamil director Vasanth. At that time, Vasanth was working on Nerukku Ner for Mani Ratnam’s production company, Madras Talkies. Released in 1997, Nerukku Ner propelled Simran to immense popularity in Tamil cinema. Additionally, she acted in films across various South Indian languages and also ventured into Tamil television, both producing and starring in shows.
Simran married her childhood sweetheart Deepak Bagga and took a break from acting after her marriage. She recently made a comeback to Hindi cinema with Salman Khan’s Tiger 3.
