In a big development in the Renuka Swamy murder case, Karnataka police took four of Darshan’s aides to the crime scene on Wednesday afternoon. Police officials recreated the crime scene around the canal where Renuka Swamy’s body was found on June 8, 2024. While it is not known who these four accused were who were taken to the crime scene, they are said to be close aides of the Kannada actor Darshan.
Interestingly, this comes a day after Karnataka police also recovered a CCTV footage in which Darshan’s car was allegedly seen near the place where Renuka’s dead body was disposed of. The CCTV video was from the wee hours of June 9, 2024 and showed a Scorpio car, which was said to have Renuka’s body and Darshan’s close aides. Reportedly, this was the car which was going to dispose of the dead body. The video also showed a car which allegedly belonged to Darshan. However, it remains unclear if the actor was inside the car at that time or not.
Renuka Swamy was found dead at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. He used to reportedly work at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. It is said that a wooden log was used to fatally injure him. The perpetrators intended to dispose of the body in the Vrushabhavati valley, but it was discovered stuck and being tampered with by dogs.
According to police officials, Renuka used to send vulgar messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowad, a friend of Darshan. Angry about this, Renuka Swamy was murdered and his dead body was allegedly thrown in a canal at Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru in front of Darshan. Reportedly, eight of the accused have implicated Darshan, claiming his presence during Renuka Swamy’s assault.
Police officials are now investigating the case and Darshan has been sent to 6-day police custody.
Earlier today, Renuka Swamy’s wife slammed Darshan and demanded justice for her husband. “My husband called me on June 8 afternoon. If my husband had sent derogatory messages on social media, he should have been given a warning. What was the need to kill him,” she said and then added,“Whether he is an actor (Darshan) or a star, I want justice.”
