Heeramandi Star Shruti Sharma REVEALS She Got Rashes After Shooting An Intimate Scene: 'It Was So Harsh'
Heeramandi actress Shruti Sharma recalled how she shot an intimate scene in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's maiden web series.

Actor Shruti Sharma shared insights from an intense filming experience while working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’, particularly regarding a romantic scene with co-star Rajat Kaul, who plays Mallikajaan’s driver, Iqbal. Portraying the maid of Sharmin Segal’s character, this marked Sharma’s debut in portraying such an intimate scene on screen.

During an interview with Entertainment Live, Sharma described the challenges encountered during the shoot. “There is a scene involving me and Iqbal in which we are romantic, meaning it’s a very romantic scene,” she explained. “That type of romance I had done for the first time on the screen. We were rolling and we were talking, and you know it was difficult choreography, we were on top of each other,” she added.

Sharma further detailed the physical toll the scene took on her, “I got rashes on my body because it was so harsh. I think we shot that scene for on whole day and when that scene got over, my kajal was smudged because there was dust and dirt. But the scene looks so beautiful.”

The scene in question, set in a horse shed, shows Shruti and Rajat in a secretive, tender embrace among the hay, hinting at a hidden romance fraught with tension. In a prior conversation with Pinkvilla, Sharma reflected on the director’s vision, expressing trust and admiration, “If Sanjay sir has decided something, he is wise enough to choose his actors. I’m sure it is quite well thought out. You can’t question his vision. He has given history to Indian cinema. It is Sanjay Sir that we’re talking about.”

Heeramandi is now available for streaming on Netflix and features an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Shekhar Suman, Adyayan Suman, and Richa Chaddha in key roles. News18 Showsha gave the series 4.5 stars. About Sonakshi, the review read, “Sonakshi Sinha plays the antagonist in Heeramandi. She is stunning, shrewd and sardonic. And she fears no one. She single-handedly fights a battle to win justice for her late mother and has no qualms about walking on the path of vices for the same. At the end, the women are all so much more than just tawaifs.”
