Kannada Film 777 Charlie To Be Dubbed In Japanese

Japan is known for producing one of the most compelling and heartwarming dog stories in the history of world cinema, with the 1987 film, Hachiko Monogatari topping the list. The film, which narrated the tale of a dog that waited for its owner to return from work till nine years after his death, has been a legacy of Japanese cinema for decades. But now, Japan will get a taste of our own desi heartwarming story of a bond between a dog and its owner.

Rakshit Shetty’s multilingual film, 777 Charlie, produced by Paramvah Studios, is set to make paw prints in Japan, two years after its original release. Dubbed in Japanese, the film will be distributed by Shochiku Films, a prominent distribution house in Japan. Interestingly, it was this very company that was behind the release of Hachiko Monogatari. The movie will be released in Japan on June 28.

Directed by Kiranraj K, the heartwarming story of 777 Charlie follows the lonely and irritable Dharma played by Rakshit Shetty, whose life takes a transformative turn with the arrival of a mischievous dog. 777 Charlie narrates a tale of companionship and self-discovery that resonates across borders.

Last year, the film also won the National Award For the Best Kannada Film.

After its well-received premiere in India, the film remains popular on Amazon Prime Video and is earning positive reviews in Thailand through its dubbed version. Beyond its launch in Japan, the movie has also secured rights for dubbing in other regions like Russia and Latin America, indicating its expanding global appeal. The film’s team is excitedly awaiting its reception in Japan, hoping to connect with audiences worldwide through its story of laughter, emotions, and the timeless connection between humans and their animal companions.
