Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar have taken the internet by storm with their bromance. A video, shared by a Reddit user, shows Karan introduce Kartik as “a superstar” at an event as the filmmaker calls upon the actor on stage. “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, give it up… Kartik Aaryan is in the house! Ye hui na entry… superstar, hero wali entry… aa chuke hai humare superstar,” Karan says in the video, as Kartik smiles.
Netizens were happy to see the duo share the stage at the event. For the unversed, Karan and Kartik had a fallout during the shoot of now-shelved movie Dostana 2. So it came as a surprise for a section of the internet when Karan introduced Kartik as “the superstar”. “Inki dosti ho gayi?” A curious fan asked.
Karan and Kartik also returned together from the event. They were clicked arriving together at Mumbai airport on Sunday night. Kartik was seen donning paster blue cotton shirt and pants, while Karan Johar looked dapper in an all-black ensemble.
In November last year, Karan decided to officially bury the hatchet with Kartik by announcing a movie on the actor’s 33rd birthday. The film will be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Sharing the announcement on social media, Karan Johar wrote, “Kickstarting today with some special news on a special day! Extremely thrilled to announce @dharmamovies and @balajimotionpictures coming together for a film helmed by the exceptionally talented @sandeipm. I find myself elated to also announce the supremely talented @kartikaaryan as our lead for this story that will unfold in cinemas on 15th August, 2025! Kartik, happy birthday to you… may our collaboration only grow from strength to strength from hereon and never cease to create magic on the big screen. @ektarkapoor, being your friend is easily the best thing and now working with you will be no different!”
In 2021, rumours about Kartik’s “unprofessional” behaviour upsetting Karan Johar surfaced online and it was said that the actor was no longer a part of Dostana 2. The film was supposed to star Kartik alongside Janhvi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya. Dharma Productions had announced Dostana 2 in 2019.
Kartik will next be seen in Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion. The film is based on the extraordinary real-life story of a sportsperson and his spirit of never giving up. The film is expected to release on June 14, 2024.
