Karan Johar welcomed his twins, Yash and Roohi, on February 7, 2017, via surrogacy. Yash was named in memory of Karan’s late father, the renowned producer Yash Johar, while Roohi’s name is a sweet rearrangement of his mother, Hiroo Johar’s name. Karan frequently shares heartwarming moments of Yash and Roohi on social media, where the twins have amassed a large fan following. Their adorable antics and family moments regularly charm fans and melt hearts online. But trolls often ask how their mother is.

Filmmaker Karan Johar opened up about people who warned him against becoming a single parent, but he shared that his mother, Hiroo Johar, was very supportive. He also talked about his struggles growing up, feeling like he didn’t fit in, and turning to food to deal with his anxieties. Speaking on the Jai Madaan – Lady of Fortune YouTube channel, Karan said he now tries to live his life without feeling regret or guilt. “I never want to have regret, I do what I want to do. I live unapologetically. A lot of people have given me a lot of advice. When I decided to do Koffee with Karan, they told me I was making a mistake by over-exposing myself. They would say that a director should have some mystique, and that they should be behind the camera. I broke those myths,” he said.

Karan went on to share that many people questioned his decision to have children, asking, ‘Are you sure? Log kya kahenge, samaaj kya kahega (What will society say)?’ But Karan didn’t let that bother him because he had his mother’s blessings. Karan continued, “I said, ‘Why should I be bothered about what people say when I have my mother’s blessings?’ My mother was so supportive. She said immediately, ‘You want to have a child of your own without a partner, please go ahead. But make sure, because it’s a very big responsibility’. Watching someone grow up in front of you, and develop their own personalities, it’s a big deal.”

Just a month ago, Karan Johar opened up about his relationship status, revealing that he’s been single for a long time and is no longer looking for a partner. During a conversation with Faye D’souza, KJo shared that he has only been in “one and a half relationships” in his life. While he actively sought companionship in his 40s, he stopped searching for it after turning 50.
