Natasha Poonawalla attended the Met Gala 2024 and once again impressed onlookers with her impeccable style. This year, her off-the-red-carpet appearance was as stunning as ever, showing her unique take on the event’s theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and adhering to the dress code, The Garden of Time. In a nod to the theme, Natasha donned and shared photos of a beautiful and interesting Viktor and Rolf creation from their AW2018 collection. The focal point of her ensemble was an oversized pillow-shaped headpiece adorned with intricate floral details, perfectly complemented by a flowing tulle train.
Taking to social media, Natasha shared her enthusiasm for the event, saying, “Sleeping Beauty Met Day!!! I couldn’t think of anything better than this Viktor and Rolf piece from their AW2018 collection to honour the opening of The Met’s latest exhibition; resuscitating iconic fashion and honouring legendary mastery in craft and design. Excited to be celebrating The Costume Institute later today.!”

Natasha Poonawalla’s choice garnered praise from a multitude of celebrities. Priyanka Chopra, unable to attend the Met Gala this year, commented, “Stunning.” Karan Johar echoed similar sentiments, describing her look as “Just amazing.” Soni Razdan was awestruck, commenting, “Wow, very dramatic and stunning.” Rhea Kapoor expressed her admiration with a simple, “love it,” while designer Manish Malhotra showered heart emojis in the comments section. Acclaimed fashion designer Masaba Gupta also exclaimed, “Out of this world.”
For her actual red carpet appearance, Natasha opted for a creation by John Galliano, giving us another reason to look up to her as a fashion icon.
Describing her experience, she wrote, “It is such an immense joy and privilege to work with John Galliano on The Met, a designer who first made me fall in love with fashion and who has had a huge influence on my deep appreciation for creativity.”
Talking about their interpretation of this year’s MET Gala dress code, she explained that it was a journey which evolved and was shaped as they got to know each other. “We loved the idea of the fragility of time and life co-existing with strength and permanence and incorporating my own sleeping beauties; my set of wedding jewels. It has been an honour to work together with a legend, and such an open creative collaborator to make an everlasting living piece of art,” Natasha added.
