Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is currently in judicial custody as he is the accused number two in the Renukaswamy murder case. Now, there is a reported development in this case. As per the reports, the 15 accused who are in jail for the Renukaswamy murder case have understood that Darshan will not help them with the bail. Reportedly, the accused have realised that they committed a crime due to their admiration for the Kannada actor. Now, reportedly, they have started trying for relief measures themselves. According to reports, the accused Anukumar has already applied for bail. After the charge sheet is filed, it is reported that other accused are also going to apply for bail. These reports are not confirmed.
In another update related to the Renukaswamy murder case, the Director General of Police (Prisons) Malini Krishnamurthy has rejected the representation of actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. Darshan had sought home-cooked food and other facilities at Central Prison. At the hearing, Karnataka High Court’s State Public Prosecutor BA Belliayappa informed that the actor’s representation was rejected on August 14, 2024. Also, the same was conveyed to the petitioner. However, senior advocate Prabhuling Navadgi, appearing for Darshan, said that the petitioner has not received a copy of the order. Justice M Nagaprasanna adjourned the hearing to September 5, thereby granting time to the petitioner.
What is Renuka Swamy’s Murder case?
Renuka Swamy, a pharmacist and fan of Darshan, reportedly sent vulgar messages to Pavithra Gowda on Instagram. Darshan and Pavithra were reportedly in a relationship for a decade, despite the former being married since 2003. When the 47-year-old actor learned about the messages, he discovered that Renuka lived in Chitradurga. The actor then contacted Raghavendra, who runs his fan club in Chitradurga. He then asked Raghavendra to bring Renuka to Bengaluru.
Renuka Swamy was allegedly taken to a location in RR Nagar. Here, he was beaten, resulting in his death from multiple injuries. His body was reportedly dumped in a drain near Summanahalli. As per the police, Darshan and Pavithra were present during the assault. Police told PTI, “Darshan beat Renuka with a belt. After he fell unconscious, his accomplices hit him with sticks and threw him against a wall, which proved fatal.”
