Sarfira OTT Release: When And Where To Watch Akshay Kumar’s Inspiring Drama

Sarfira — the Akshay Kumar, Radhikka Madan and Paresh Rawal starrer drama film was released on the big screens on July 12 this year and garnered positive reviews from fans and critics. It revolves around Vir Mahtre (played by Akshay) and his desire to establish a low-cost airline for all Indians to fly. The film is all set to begin its OTT journey soon. On Thursday, Akshay posted a video on X and announced the OTT streaming date of Sarfira. The film will release on Disney+ Hotstar on October 11.

“Apne sapnon ko poora karne ke liye, #Sarfira hona padta hai! Watch the dreams of a common man soar in Sarfira, streaming only on Disney+ Hotstar from October 11,” the Khiladi Kumar wrote in the caption.

Talking about the film, the Hera Pheri actor said in the announcement video, “Aasmaan ka sapne dekhne ke liye zameen par kisi ki permission nahi lagti. Kahaani hai ek aam aadmi ki jiska sapna tha har aam aadmi ke liye plane ka safar mumkin karana. Duniya ne use rokne ki bahut koshish ki, pankh phailane se usse mana kiya aur usse sarfira bhi kaha. Par woh ruka nahi kyunki sarfira who hi hota hai jo duniya ke banaye hue rules ko todhta hai. Aur aise hi ek Sarfira ki true story aapke dil ko chune aa rahi hai. (No one on earth needs permission to dream of the sky. It is the story of a common man who dreamed of making airline travel possible for all common people. The world tried a lot to stop him from spreading his wings and even called him Sarfira. But he didn’t stop because Sarfira is the one who breaks the rules made by the world. And a true story of one such ‘Sarfira’ is coming to touch your heart soon).”

Helmed by Sudha Kongara, the film was an official Hindi remake of the National-award winning film Soorarai Pottru which was inspired by events from the life of G. R. Gopinath, founder of Indian low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan. Soorarai Pottru starred South superstar Suriya, Paresh Rawal and Aparna Baramurali in the lead roles.
