Shah Rukh Khan has been a superstar since the early 1990s, charming his fans from the start of his career. Actor Gajraj Rao recalled an incident during the filming of Dil Se, where a large crowd began chasing Shah Rukh Khan on the streets of Delhi. SRK had to calm them down, and his presence worked like magic. Gajraj described him as “miraculous,” comparing him to the Pied Piper. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Gajraj shared that it happened when they were shooting an ambulance scene in Delhi.
He said, “We were once shooting an ambulance scene where we are taking his character somewhere in the ambulance and we were on the roads of Delhi. And it just so happened, that because we were shooting and there were a few cars around, people got to know that Shah Rukh is inside the ambulance and before we knew it, a lot of people started following the ambulance. It actually got very scary.”
Gajraj recalled how Shah Rukh stopped the ambulance and spoke to the crowd. He urged them to let the shoot continue without any disturbances. “He then spoke to the people who were following us and he requested them by saying ‘we are doing a very important scene here. God forbid if something bad were to happen here, then it will be our loss, your loss, the shoot will stop. Do you want this to happen?’ You know how there is a Pied Piper, a magician… People were immediately like ‘nahi ji, bilkul nahi, aap karo.’ There were about 50-100 cars and bikes there and everyone just vanished,” he said.
Gajraj also mentioned another incident. He recalled that while rehearsing a scene, he had to push SRK against the wall. Gajraj pushed him too hard, worrying director Mani Ratnam, who told him to be gentler. But when the director left, Shah Rukh asked Gajraj to push him just as hard as in the rehearsal.
