New Delhi: As the Ramesh Sippy's ‘Sholay’ gears up for the completion of its successful 40 years in Bollywood, actor Akshay Kumar feels that it is a classic that cannot be remade in any way in this lifetime, even by the biggest filmmakers.

Akshay Kumar who was in the capital with Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Farnandez to promote ‘Brothers’ said, “I don’t think anyone should ever try and remake the classic. It will be complete injustice to the film as it is impossible to re-create the genius of Sippy sir.”

On being asked if he has any particular memory attached with the film, Akshay replied, “I have so many memories with the film that I did a movie titled ‘Gabbar’. Now you can make out how special the film is in my life.”

Sidharth Malhotra added that 'Sholay' was one of the earlier movies he saw and loved. He said,” It’s an iconic movie. I love the movie, the star cast, the scenes. Hats off to the makers who made a film that has lived longer and beyond than anyone has expected..”

The actors agreed upon the fact that no other movie in Bollywood can match to the benchmark set by ‘Sholay’. The ‘Gabbar’ actor said that if ever he is asked to play a part in ‘Sholay’, he won’t be able to do it as no one can live up to the portrayal of the characters done by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.

Apart from the two men, Jacqueline Farnandez who is playing Akshay’s love interest in ‘Brothers’ added that 'Sholay' was one of the first Hindi films that she watched before joining Bollywood.

On their upcoming film, the trio says that ‘Brothers’ has a lot of drama and emotions. According to Sidharth it is ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ with mixed martial arts. He says, “The film has two sons, one father and a baggage of family issues. How they confront and resolve them is what the film is all about.”

Directed by Karan Malhotra ‘Brothers’ is a drama-action movie releasing on August 14.
