New Delhi: Singer Mika Singh has been arrested for slapping a doctor at a concert at South-west Delhi. The incident happened in April when footage of the singer assaulting the doctor in full public view, went viral. Mika has been booked for wrongfully restraining Shrikant, an ophthalmologist at the Pusa Institute Ground, in Inderpuri Police Station.
A senior police officer said, "In his complaint, Dr. Shrikant, has said that he was trying to communicate with a woman, who was participating in a gimmick that required segregation of male and female members of the audience. It was then that Mika summoned the doctor."
After the incident, Mika defended himself by saying that the doctor was trying to molest a girl in the concert and that’s why he slapped him on stage.
Shrikant filed an FIR the very next day of the incident and gave Mika time to come out in front of media and apologize for his action, which the singer never did.
According to Mika's Lawyer, Sanjay Bhatnagar, “We came here for investigation and Mika gave his statement. He not a criminal and did not commit a crime.” The police is currently looking into the matter using the video as prime evidence.
