Tamil actor Vishal appeared to have taken a dig at Rajinikanth’s failed political plans. The actor is currently promoting his upcoming film titled Rathnam. During the promotions, he was asked he would follow Vijay’s footsteps into politics. Vishal gave a cryptic response and seemingly took a jibe at Rajinikanth. For the unversed, the Tamil superstar had announced previously announced he would enter politics but he turned back on his decision due to his health. He added that it seems like a warning from God.
Vishal seemingly revisited the statement while talking about his own political plans and took a jibe at it. He said, “Yes, I am going to enter politics. I won’t beat around the bush saying ‘I will come, or I will come only if He (God) tells me to, or I will come when I come’ etc. I will definitely enter politics.” Although he did not name Rajinikanth in his comment, many fans interpretated it that Vishal was hinting at Rajinikanth’s comment.

Rajinikanth and Politics:
Tamil Nadu has seen several actors turn into political leaders over the decades. From writer M Karunanidhi and actors MG Ramachandran (MGR) and J Jayalalithaa, who won elections and served as Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu during their political careers, to Vijayakanth, Kamal Haasan, Sivaji Ganesan, R Sarathkumar, Udhayanidhi Stalin, several stars turned towards politics. Rajinikanth had also plans of following the road. However, he would often state that his political plans will be decided by God.
Eventually, in December 2020, he had announced that he will be joining politics and even form his own party. However, a few weeks later, he decided to forgo his plans due to his health. “I see this (hospitalisation) as a warning given to me by God. My campaign will impact health amid the pandemic,” he said.
