Directed by Anu Menon, the film features Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah in pivotal roles with Rajat Kapoor, Arjun Mathur and Suhasini Maniratnam in supporting roles. With the stellar star cast, 'Waiting' has already been successful in creating a buzz amongst the movie buffs.
Known for her off-beat films like 'London Paris New York', 'Quickgun Morgun', the director has always experimented with themes that are rarely seen in our main cinema. As the trailer unveiled, 'Waiting' revolves around an unusual friendship between two people who befriend each other in a hospital while nursing their spouses in a comatose state.
After featuring together in films including 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' where they had no scene together and the 2011 release 'That Girl in The Yellow Boots', it'll be interesting to see Kalki and Naseer sharing the screen space this time.
Considering the fact that the film has been received well at various film festivals and that it boasts of a nuanced star cast and a different story line, the expectations are definitely high for this one. Will 'Waiting' be just another melodramatic trip of coping with grief or will it offer something novel? Will Kalki and Naseer's unusual story strike a chord with the viewers? Kriti Tulsiani from News18.com is inside the theater to find out.
