BTS’ Jin Reacts To Jungkook’s Emotional Letter Ahead Of His Military Enlistment
All seven BTS members are expected to return from their mandatory military enlistment in mid-2025.

BigHit Music, which manages K-Pop royalty BTS, announced on Wednesday that Jungkook, RM, Jimin, and V will be starting their mandatory military enlistment process. This means that they will likely begin their military journey in December. They will be joining the other three members of the group, Jin, J-Hope, and Suga. Suga is the only BTS member who is serving the enlistment in a non-combat role as he was deemed “unfit for the regular combat duty.” All seven BTS members are expected to return as civilians by mid-2025 as they wrap up the minimum 18 months of service.

Following the Big Hit Music’s military enlistment announcement, Jungkook, the youngest member of the group shared a heartfelt message for ARMY (as BTS fandom is called) on Weverse.

The letter, written in Korean, loosely translated to, “Dear ARMYs, it is already the end of November and it is very windy. Since you all know this, I am writing a short letter to you. This coming December, I will begin a new journey. I will be leaving you for a while to serve in the military. As I share this news, my heart feels heavy on one hand, but on the other hand, my heart warms as I recall precious memories with ARMY. Every moment I’ve spent with you so far has been the brightest time of my life. ARMY’s laughter, support, and love have led me this far. Thank you so much for supporting my dream and silently walking with me. I would be cautious in asking you to just wait while you are serving in the military. 1 year and 6 months is a long time, so I wouldn’t say that to be selfish. I promise that when I return, I will stand on stage in the same place I always was and with a more grown appearance.”

As fans were left emotional by this letter, Jin, the oldest member of the group, replied in his quintessential ‘unserious’ manner to Jungkook’s post. Jin replied with a series of “ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ”. These characters in Korean mean “ha ha ha ha”. Jin is perhaps the only one who can get away with such a response to an emotional post. He was the first one to join military in December 2022 and is expected to return in June 2024.

Many BTS fans shared that Jin’s light-hearted response made them smile even as they were upset about the enlistment of all remaining four members together.

A BTS fan wrote on X, “Seeing all of the tweets saying “that’s the first time I’ve laughed since the announcement.” that is EXACTLY what jin wanted. I love him so much.”

What's your reaction?
