It was a night of wins and cheers at the 75th Emmy Awards this year. The glittery ceremony was held at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, California. Hosted by American actor-comedian Anthony Anderson, the gala night witnessed the arrival of many A-listed Hollywood celebrities including Selena Gomez, Rachel Brosnahan, Quinta Brunson, and Ayo Edebiri. However, the main highlight of the star-studded night was the impromptu kiss between actors Ebon Moss Bachrach and Matt Matheson, which left the other attendees stunned. The duo took the stage when it was announced that The Bear, featuring the two bagged the Best Comedy Series award.
In a now-viral video, the cast and crew members of the comedy-drama series The Bear were seen celebrating their win on the stage. Actor-chef Matt Matheson was the first to address the crowd. With the award in his hands, when he just started his acceptance speech, his co-star Ebon Moss Bachrach was quick to intervene. Without any warning, Bachrach approached Matheson, and kissed him onstage, sparking applause and laughter from the others present. After the long-drawn kiss was over, Matheson continued with his speech. The viral moment between The Bear stars is now being widely circulating across social media platforms.

The internet community was quick to react to Ebon Moss Bachrach and Matt Matheson’s kiss on X (formerly Twitter). In his acceptance speech, Matt Matheson said, “I just want to thank restaurants as a whole, hospitality as a whole… I just love restaurants so much! The good, the bad. It’s rough, we’re all broken inside and every single day we gotta show up and cook and make people feel good by eating something and sitting at a table. And it’s really beautiful and all of us here get to make a show together. And we get to make people feel good or filled with anxiety or triggered… it seems.” Before concluding his statement, Matheson expressed gratitude to the cast and crew of The Bear for their hard work and efforts.
The Bear, also starring Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, and Liza Colón-Zayas in important roles revolves around a young chef from a luxury dining world who returns to his hometown Chicago to work in his family’s local sandwich shop.
The Emmy Awards 2024 streamed on January 15 on Fox channel.
