A 40-year-old woman lost her life while 26 others were rescued after a fire broke out at a building in East Delhi’s Shakarpur on Tuesday. The authorities mentioned that the fire had started in the parking area in the early hours of the day and engulfed the entire structure.

Two pets were also rescued from the blaze. Officials mentioned that some people resorted to jumping out of windows to ensure their safety.

“We received a fire call around 1:05am and promptly dispatched three fire engines. Subsequently, an additional five fire engines were mobilized to the scene. The incident was promptly reported to the police,” stated an official from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).

The flames were extinguished following several hours of firefighting, as reported. Firefighters rescued individuals, utilizing a ladder positioned next to the building’s window.

The officials added that around 60 people were in the building when the fire broke out.
