Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann will visit Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya today to offer prayers in the newly inaugurated Ram Temple.
The AAP chief was earlier invited to the consecration ceremony of the temple on January 22, however, he said that he wanted to visit the temple later with his family.
A prominent member of the INDIA bloc, Kejriwal will visit the Temple with his parents, sources said. AAP’s Uttar Pradesh unit leader Sabhajeet Singh had said that both the Delhi and Punjab chief ministers will land at the Ayodhya airport around 11 am by a chartered flight from Delhi.
Notably, the AAP party organised a number of events to celebrate Ram Mandir ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony. From Sundar Kand yatras to Shobha Yatras, the party ensured to mark the day with the participation of several of its leaders.
About skipping the consecration ceremony, Kejriwal had told reporters, “I got a letter that said only one person was allowed (for the ceremony) due to security reasons. They said a team will come to give a personal invitation but no one came.”
He said that he wishes to visit Ayodhya for Ram Lalla’s darshan with his wife and children, adding that his parents were also longing for the Lord’s darshan.
Earlier on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh legislators, including chief minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Ram Temple. The legislators were welcomed in the Temple town with flowers and enthusiasm.
Members of both Houses of the UP legislature, including those from the BJP and its allies, the Congress, BSP and SBSP went for Ram Lalla’s darshan. Samajwadi Party (SP), however, declined the trip.
