New Delhi: Brushing aside the allegations of not trying to implement its core agendas like abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Uniform Civil Code in India and construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Bharatiya Janata Party cheif Amit Shah said that Bharatiya Janata Party is running the Central government as a part of the National Democratic Alliance
"We have not got enough mandate to address the core issues. We need 370 seats according to the Constitution to address them," he said in New Delhi on Tuesday. Shah made the reply when he was question as to why the BJP which alone had majority in the Lok Sabha was not addressing the party's core issues when during the previous NDA government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee the usual excuse was that the party did enjoy majority in the Lok Sabha.
Speaking on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Shah said the Centre is determined to tackle the menace of black money. "The previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government failed to tackle the issue of black money. Modi government is determined to put an end to it," he said.
Lauding the government's achievement in the last one year, he said that even the opposition parties have not been able to level a single corruption charge on the government.
Addressing the ongoing battle between the Delhi and the Centre over the appointment of bureaucrats, Shah said that the 'so called' clash relates to interpretation of Constitution.
"The issue will be settled by courts. We have not discriminated against the Delhi government. Discrimination is what the UPA did with the Gujarat government. For five years they were not given royalty. The difference of gas price in Delhi and Gujarat was 270%," he said.
Shah claimed that Modi government had ended the trust deficit. "It is a visible government and is seen as taking proactive steps, unlike the UPA where no answers were given. The Modi government has restored the dignity of the Prime Minister's Office," he added.
