Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was in Assam to campaign for the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, on Tuesday said that China couldn’t encroach a “single inch” of land under the Narendra Modi-led NDA government.
The BJP veteran also added that the people of Assam will never forget how former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru compromised Assam and Arunachal Pradesh during the 1962 Indo-China war.
“Assamese people can’t forget that during the 1962 China aggression, then PM Jawaharlal Nehru bid goodbye to the people of Assam and left Assam and Northeast to merge with China. Whereas we the BJP Government defended every attack of our neighbouring country bravely,” Shah said while addressing a rally in Lakhimpur.
He further added the BJP-led government at the Centre left no stone unturned to secure India’s border with Bangladesh and stop infiltration.
“In the Tenure of Himanta Biswa Sarma in the state and Narendra Modi in central not a single Bangladeshi can enter Assam. We have thrown away the intruders camping at Kaziranga,” Shah added.
Amit Shah Slams Congress for Failing to Protect Assamese
Addressing the rally, Shah said that Congress failed to protect the youth of Assam but the BJP government ensured the safety of Assamese by signing a peace accord with the militant groups.
“Rahul Baba said, we have to save Assam’s Culture, I want to ask Rahul Baba what have you done to safeguard Assam’s culture. During your tenure lakhs of Assamese youth lost lives. We have signed a peace accord with the militant groups of the state and presently one can see peace and prosperity everywhere the state. The BJP government presently thinking about the removal of AFSPA from the state.”
“You don’t even remember Gopinath Bardaloi, Forgot Bhupen Hazarika. We the BJP government conferred the greatest bard of Assam the Bharat Ratna,” he added.
Regarding Assam’s development, Shah said that compared to Congress governments in the previous years, Assam had experienced more development in the last ten years. t
“Today from health to industry, in every sector Assam is experiencing prosperity. The Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken the initiative to provide the best treatment for the cancer patients of this region. Now cancer patients need not to go out of Assam for better treatment,” he said.
Citing about welfare and empowerment of the women of the state he said, “Today more than 50 Lakhs families of the state are provided pure water. About 51 Lakhs Women received gas connection.”
