Kolkata: BJP national secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Friday dared West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to arrest BJP state president Dilip Ghosh.
On Thursday, a non-bailable warrant was issued against Ghosh at Kharagpur Town police station for carrying a sword during a Ram Navami procession on April 5.
Vijayvargiya, along with senior central leader Shiv Prakash, is in Kolkata to attend a BJP state committee meeting on Saturday.
Speaking to News18, Vijayvargiya said, “Trinamool Congress is indulging in vindetta politics. Our fight against TMC will continue. Let them arrest our state party president. They will see its repercussion.”
“TMC is scared of BJP. Ever since their senior leaders were arrested in connection with chit fund scams they are scared of us,” he said.
State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said, “Why Mamata Banerjee was quiet when former TMC Madan Mitra was seen with a sword during a Muharram procession. I want to know what action the party has taken against Mitra.”
Reacting to Vijayvargiya comment, Mamata, before going to Delhi, said, “BJP is polluting Bengal’s culture. We are not going to tolerate this, and the law will take its own course against people who organise rallies with weapons.”
