New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet will be meeting for a second day in a row on Wednesday evening. It is being said that finalising the dates of the Parliament session will be on agenda for the meet.
A discussion on the Polavaram river-linking project in Andhra Pradesh is also expected to be on agenda. TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has urged the Centre to alter the design of the Polavaram river-linking project in order to avert submersion of villages in Telangana.
During the day, several ministers are set to take charge of their new offices. Sushma Swaraj is set to take charge as the External Affairs Ministers, Uma Bharti will take over the Water resources ministry and Maneka Gandhi will take charge as the Women and Child Development Minister. Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju will also be taking charge of his office on Wednesday.
On the first day after taking charge, the new government constituted a special investigative team (SIT) headed by a former Supreme Court Judge to unearth black money, including in the case of Hasan Ali. M B Shah, head of the SIT that also comprises another retired Supreme Court judge Arijit Pasayat as vice-chairman, will be assisted by the Revenue Secretary, directors of CBI, IB, RAW and ED, the CBDT Chairman and an RBI deputy governor.
"In the first Cabinet of the new government in the light of the directions of the SC, we have constituted an SIT for unearthing black money. This was an important issue for us," Law and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said after a one-and-a-half-hour Cabinet meeting.
