Dibrugarh: Trinamool Congress, the second largest partner of the UPA government at the Centre, today said the corrupt Congress government in Assam had no moral right to seek vote from the people.
"Corruption in Assam has crossed all limits and it is a matter of shame that legislators and ministers snatch the crumbs from plates of the poor and Congress has no moral right to ask voters to bring it back to power," TMC leader and Union Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed told a poll rally here.
He alleged the state government had done nothing to rehabilitate the farmers who were ravaged by the Brahmaputra floods and languished in relief camps for years.
"TMC is always with the poor and the agitations at Singur and at Nandigram in West Bengal have made it clear that Mamata Didi's heart beats for the poor and fighting for their cause is her one-point programme.
"TMC chief, Mamata Banerjee is not afraid of anybody in her fight to protect the interest of the poor people," he said.
TMC, main opposition in West Bengal where it is fighting jointly with Congress to oust the Left Front Government, has is contesting in 102 seats in Assam for its 126-member assembly.
TMC has one and five assembly seats in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh respectively.
