New Delhi: It could not get any worse for Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi. After leading the Congress party to a deafening defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, and becoming the butt of political leaders' jokes, the Gandhi scion was on Wednesday caught sleeping in the Lok Sabha.
Bharatiya Janata Party slammed Rahul of being oblivious to the debate on price rise in the House. Party leader and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday took a jibe at the Congress Vice President ahead of presentation of Union Budget in Parliament.
He said, "It's achche din, that is why even the leader of the opposition party (Rahul Gandhi) was sleeping inside the House."
BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain hit out at the Congress as he tweeted, "Rahul Gandhi was seen sleeping in Parliament during a debate on price rise. That's what the Congress was doing during their 10-year rule."
Meanwhile, Congress slammed the media for broadcasting these images. Senior Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said, "Lok Sabha TV could have avoided broadcasting this. Such things do happen in Parliament. This is low level journalism."
