As campaigning in Haryana has entered into its final stages, former cricketer Virender Sehwag has shown his support for Congress candidate Anirudh Chaudhry who has entered the fray from Tosham assembly constituency.
The former Indian batsman put out an Instagram story showing Chaudhry’s rallies ahead of the elections. Though he has not mentioned anything on the story, the video shows Chaudhry appealing for votes.
In a video, Anirudh Chaudhry is heard saying, “If I do any work, I will do it because of your love, I will do it because of your support, I will do it because of your cooperation. There will be no third person between you and me.”
Anirudh Chaudhry is a former treasurer of the BCCI and secretary of the Haryana Cricket Association. Chaudhry’s father, Ranbir Singh Mahendra was the president of BCCI. He has also been an MLA from Haryana. Anirudh Chaudhry was the manager of the Under-19 India cricket team and the manager of Team India in the 2007 T-20 World Cup.
The Tosham assembly seat is expected to see a fierce contest between two cousins. The Congress debutante has been pitted against Congress-turned-BJP leader Kiran Choudhry’s daughter Shruti Choudhry.
While Anirudh Chaudhry is the grandson of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal, Shruti Choudhry is the granddaughter of the veteran politician.
Bansi Lal’s daughter-in-law, Kiran Choudhry has served as an MLA from Tosham on multiple occasions. After she switched over to the BJP, the party has fielded Kiran Choudhry’s daughter from her erstwhile seat.
