'Highest Respect for Lord Ram But...': Owaisi Demands BJP To Clarify If 'It Has A Religion of Its Own'

Speaking on a Lok Sabha resolution on the Ram Temple inauguration, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said that he has the highest respect for Lord Ram but “Hate” for Nathuram Godse, who killed a man whose last words were “Hey Ram.”

Bristling at the Bharatiya Janata Party during the discussion Owaisi said, “I have the highest respect for Lord Ram but hate Nathuram Godse because he killed the person whose last words were ‘Hey Ram’.

The AIMIM MP also demanded that the government, which is ruled by the BJP, should come out and clarify if “it has a religion of its own.”

Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently participated in the ‘pran pratishta’ of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya temple, as “Baba Modi”, Owaisi reiterated that Muslims in the country are feeling “alienated.”

“Is the current government a government for a particular community? The practitioner of one religion or the entire country? Is it a government only for Hindutva?” Owaisi asked.

The Hyderabad leader stated that the light of Indian democracy is at its dimmest today, adding “Babri Masjid remains and will remain where it was.”

“Am I a spokesperson of Babar, Jinnah or Aurangzeb? I respect Maryada Purushottam Ram, but I will continue to hate Nathuram Godse. Today the country does not need Baba Modi. I want to ask when the government replies to this debate will it focus on 140 crore Indians or only the Hindutva population?” he said.

Owaisi also said that he believes through the resolution on Ayodhya Ram Temple, the government is trying to send out a message that it marked the triumph of one religion over the other.

“What larger message are they sending out to the 17 crore Muslims in the country?” the AIMIM chief asked.

Meanwhile, about the inauguration of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Modi in his farewell speech said that the Lok Sabha’s resolution on the Ram Temple will give future generations the strength to feel proud of their culture and country’s values.

The government brought a motion on Ram Temple in Upper House and Lower House on Saturday which is the last day of the interim budget session of Parliament.
