New Delhi: The uneasy truce between Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh and cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu seems to be cracking.
Amidst Sidhu's insistence that he would continue appearing on Kapil Sharma’s comedy show, Amarinder said: "If Sidhu continues with his acting, then we may have to change his portfolio," adding that some other portfolio will be given to him.
Sidhu handles the culture ministry, along with museums and tourism. Culture ministry is said to be in direct conflict of interest with his role as an actor on the show.
Sidhu has defended himself citing Kirron Kher, who is an actor as well as a Member of Parliament.
However, Kher told News18 that she had rejected three movies, and she doesn't act anymore.
Earlier, speculation was rife that Sidhu could be made Punjab deputy CM. Instead, he was given low-profile ministries in a stern message by Amarinder.
Sidhu, on Wednesday morning, took a jibe at former Punjab deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, asking if he should "start driving a bus like Badal".
Amarinder Singh had, earlier, sought legal opinion on Sidhu’s commitment to ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.
Soon after his election and swearing-in as a minister, Sidhu was asked if he will continue with his comedy show appearances. Sidhu counter questioned, “If those who have elected me do not have a problem, why are you feeling ticklish about it?”
