Thiruvananthapuram: While the Congress-led UDF retained its might in Kerala, Left Democratic Front showed a slight improvement in its performance from the last general elections.

UDF has been reduced to 10 seats, while the LDF won in seven seats, two seats more than its 2009 tally.

After a close battle with BJP's C Rajagopal, Congress leader and Union Minister Shashi Tharoor emerged victorious in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency. Another key candidate veteran actor Innocent thrashed his rival, Union Minister PC Chacko to claim the Chalakudy Lok Sabha seat.
