New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has asked Parliament's Committee of Privileges to investigate and submit a report on the pepper spray incident of Lok Sabha.
The Lok Sabha on February 13 witnessed ugly scenes with Seemandhra MP Lagadapati Rajagopal using a pepper spray and TDP MP Venugopal Reddy allegedly brandishing a knife inside the House.
LS Speaker had earlier too strongly condemned the incident. "What happened today is a blot. It has shamed us. Our Parliamentary democracy is respected throughout the world. I am too much in pain. This is not the way to behave," she had said.
She had issued a statement saying that the members of Parliament must maintain the highest standards of parliamentary decorum and uphold democratic values which have been assiduously nurtured all these six decades in our country.
