Mamata urges UPA allies to stand for common people
The Trinamool Congress said that parties supporting UPA should stand for the interest of common people so that anti-people decisions are not taken.

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday urged the parties in the the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government to take a "stand in the interest of common people". "Time is running out to voice protest against many anti-people decisions like increase in diesel prices, fertiliser prices, restriction on use of LPG cylinders, introduction of FDI in Retail, in Pensions, in Insurance, etc., by UPA-II," Banerjee posted on Facebook.

"May I request the political parties supporting the UPA-II, to take stand in the interest of common people, so that anti-people decisions are not implemented. "May I also seek public opinion on these issues?," she wrote. Since her party's withdrawal of support from the UPA government, Banerjee has never lost any opportunity to criticise the Congress-led central government and has been vociferous in her attacks against the economic reforms initiated by it.
