New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declined Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal's invitation to attend the Delhi CM designate's swearing-in ceremony due to prior commitments.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Baramati where he has to attend a function organised by Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar's educational trust. The timings of the programme coincide with Kejriwal's swearing-in ceremony in Delhi on February 14.
Security concerns are also being stated as a reasons behind Modi declining Kejriwal's invitation.
Kejriwal had extended an invitation to Modi to attend his oath taking ceremony. Along with Modi, he also extended the invitation to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu.
The Bharatiya Janata Party suffered a severer drubbing in the recent assembly elections in Delhi. While the AAP swept the polls by winning 67 out of 70 seats, the BJP could only bag 3 seats.
