New Delhi: In a setback for the Aam Aadmi Party government in its battle against power distribution companies, the Delhi Appellate Electricity Tribunal has directed power regulator DERC to not to suspend licenses of BSES discoms without its permission.
On the instructions from the AAP government, the DERC had issued a letter threatening to cancel licenses of the discoms if they started power cuts in the capital. The discoms have said that they will be forced to start 8-10 hour power cuts from February 10, as they have no money to pay power suppliers like NTPC.
The Reliance ADAG has meanwhile, objected to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slamming Anil Ambani accusing him of playing politics over power. "Reliance Group is extremely disappointed with the Delhi Chief Minister's tweet attacking our Group Chairman. BSES Delhi Discoms urge the Delhi government to engage constructively to find a solution to the power crisis, and avoid extreme hardship to Delhi citizens from next week," Reliance said in its statement.
