Mumbai: Denying allegations of corruption during her tenure as Maharashtra women and child development minister, BJP MLA Pankaja Munde on Wednesday clarified that rules weren't violated and the purchase orders/contracts were given as per government rate contracts.
"There was no violation of rules. The purchase orders/contracts were given as per government rate contracts. There was no question of e-tendering as e-tendering GR (government resolution) was issued on April 17. The purchase orders were given in February."
Munde is in the eye of the storm after being accused of flouting norms in a Rs-206 crore order she placed during her tenure as Maharashtra women and child development minister.
The minister had allegedly cleared purchase of chikki, mats and books for Rs 206 crore without floating tenders for the same. According to rules, any government purchase above Rs 3 lakh has to be done through e-tendering.
Munde had reportedly cleared 24 government resolutions on the same day. The opposition is alleging that the Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra has been hit by its first scam.
The Congress party has filed a complaint in this regard with the state anti-corruption bureau, giving a detailed report to the body. The opposition has also sought an investigation into the case.
Hitting out at the BJP-led government, Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken demanded a judicial probe into the issue under a sitting High Court judge. He further said that any other minister involved in the issue must also be brought under scanner.
