Ahmedabad: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, saying that he has forgotten all about his development plank and keeps talking only about himself.
Addressing a rally in Vadnagar’ Mehsana, which will vote in the second phase of the assembly polls, Gandhi said this election is bigger than Modi or him and it is bigger than Congress and BJP. “This election is about Gujarat’s future,” he said.
“Yesterday (Friday), Modi gave a speech on Modi. He spoke only about himself,” Rahul said, referring to Modi’s speech in Himmatnagar, where he accused suspended Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar of giving a supari in Pakistan to get him removed.
He continued the attack on Twitter and wrote, “90% % samay unhone apne aap pe bhashan dia, Narendra Modi ne Narendra Modi ke baare mein bhashan dia, aur kuch bacha hi nahi (90% time, he gave a speech on himself. Narendra Modi gave a speech on Narendra Modi. There is nothing else left.”
The Congress scion said that while his party’s members had been touring the state to find out about people’s issues, Modi has only tried to distract the people’s attention towards needless issues.
“We have been working on our manifesto for the last three months. We went to all sections of society and asked people what they want their government to do. We don’t talk about ourselves. We talk about what they did in the last 22 years and what Congress will do in next five years,” Rahul said.
He also attacked the Gujarat model of development, targeting the land allocated for the Tata Nano factory in Sanand.
“Villagers gave land and water for Tata Nano factory. But none of them got employment. Today, that factory produces two cars a day. Have you seen Tata Nano on the streets? Where are the cars?” he asked.
“Modi government takes from the poor, gives to a handful of the rich,” he said, adding that 30 lakh youth are unemployed in Gujarat. “China creates 50,000 jobs in a day. India creates only 450 jobs in 24 hours,” he said.
