Thiruvananthapuram: Trouble for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) as the Revolutionary Socialist party (RSP) is all set to join the Congress-led UDF. The decision was taken at a meeting held between the RSP leaders and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC President VM Sudheeran and state Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala.
The issue will be discussed in the KPCC executive committee meeting to be held on Monday and the UDF meeting on Tuesday. Official declaration will be made only after the meetings.
A sections of Congress leaders especially from the 'I' faction are not happy with the move as the sitting MP Peethambara Kurup was from the 'I' faction.
Rift began in the Left Front over seat sharing as RSP staked claim to the Kollam constituency. The RSP decided to field NK Premachandran as their candidate in Kollam independently. Though the Left tried to pacify the RSP on Sunday, it failed to yield any results.
