Ahmedabad: 44 Congress MLAs were suspended by the Gujarat assembly Speaker Ramanlal Vora on Tuesday after they created a ruckus in the house over flogging of Dalits in Una in Gir Somnath district.
The MLAs were demanding action against cow-protection vigilantes for assaulting four dalit men allegedly for skinning a dead cow in July.
On Monday, the two-day assembly session was started and one of the main agendas was to clear the Goods and Services Tax Bill.
On Sunday, the Gujarat Congress leaders submitted a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee raising the atrocities against Dalits in Gujarat.
