Salaar Director Prashanth Neel Says He Got Quiet When CBFC Asked For Cuts: 'I Didn’t Make A Vulgar Film'
Prashanth Neel-directorial Salaar has been given an ‘A – Adult Only’ certificate by the censor board.

Prabhas starrer Salaar is one of the most awaited movies. While everyone is eagerly waiting for the Prashanth Neel directorial, it was recently revealed that the film has been given an ‘A – Adult Only’ certificate by the censor board. In a recent interview, the producer of the film, Vijay Kiragandur shared that the makers were ‘not okay’ with the CBFC decision and wanted a U/A certification for their film.

“We obviously wanted a ‘U/A’ because we want the family audience to come and watch the film. At the same time, we are now okay with an ‘A’ certificate. The rules have changed for the censor board and when they explained the reason behind it, we came to terms with it,” he told India today.

Before the December 22 release of Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, Director Prashanth Neel and actors Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran had a chat with director SS Rajamouli. They talked about the film’s story, their roles, and how they became part of the project. During the conversation, Prashanth also discussed the film receiving an adult certificate.

“This story is all about Deva and Vardha, Salaar is a drama at its core,” the director said, adding, “I’ve seen Telugu cinema for years now and the violence in my film is pale compared to that. The idea was never to make a film so violent it gets an A. But the guidelines have changed and the censor board asked me to make certain cuts. I got so quiet when they said that because I didn’t make a vulgar movie. The violence in the film is needed. I was disappointed, but Prabhas told me it’s okay.”

Hombale Films’ Salaar: Part 1: Ceasefire stars Prabhas along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. Made under the direction of Prashanth Neel, the film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur. Salaar has a duration of 2 hours and 55 minutes.
