Chinese smartphone maker Gionee is all set to launch two new smartphones - the M6 and M6 Plus - in its home country today. What would possibly set apart these Android smartphones is a security feature which is likely to go beyond the regular biometric sensors.
As widely speculated, the Gionee M6 will come with a unique security chip that will keep the phone's data encrypted. It will work with the fingerprint sensor and keep the call logs, documents, data, etc. stored safe.
This chip would ensure that in situations such as hacking of the device or when the user wants to hide confidential data, there can be no way to break into the system. An added security measure like this will make the Gionee M6 perhaps one of the most secure consumer Android phones in the market.
In terms of other specifications, the M6 is expected to house a 5000mAh battery while the M6 Plus (expected to be larger in display size) will come with a mammoth 6020mAh battery.
Spotted on certification website TENNA, the M6 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD resolution and come powered by a Snapdragon 652 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It will further include 32GB of internal storage. The phone will support dual SIM and run on the newer Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
The fingerprint on the full-metal body device will feature in the rear. It is further expected to come with a 13 megapixel rear camera along with an 8 megapixel front camera.
The Gionee launch event will kick start at 3PM CST(1.30PM IST). Watch this space for more specs, pricing details, and availability of the M6, M6 Plus in India.
