New Delhi: Nintendo, the game maker most famous for its classic Mario game is reportedly working on an Android-based video gaming console.
The game maker had recently announced its plans to enter mobile gaming with its iconic characters. However, a latest report by Japanese publication Nikkei has revealed that Nintendo’s next target is developing home video game consoles which run the popular Android operating system.
This would mark a shift from Nintendo's existing reliability on its proprietary OS to Google’s Android platform for the speculated console.
If sources are to be believed, Nintendo will use Android to help attract more interest from developers, most of whom have never built anything that comes close to resembling a home console-quality game, BGR reports.
The speculated console is codenamed ‘Nintendo NX’ and is unlikely to be ready in time for the annual E3 video game conference this year.
