Diwandi village, located in Rohat tehsil of Pali district, Rajasthan, India is currently in the headlines. According to Local 18 Rajasthan, the young people are performing a havan in the Todeshwar Mahadev Mandir Suman Enclave, to please Lord Shiva to bless their village with rainfall. Along with Lord Mahadeva, the devotees are also worshipping Lord Indra for the same purpose. In Hinduism, Lord Indra is the god of rain and storms. Devotees are trying to invoke the blessings of both Gods by chanting the relevant mantras and prayers. Despite the onset of the monsoon in India, there has been no rainfall in Diwandi village, and therefore the natives are praying for the same in the temple. They are hoping for abundant rainfall in the Sawan month.

As per a social worker named Deepak Bamaniya, this time, the monsoon has not been fully active in the Pali district, due to which the Diwandi village has not received enough rain. For this reason, the natives are in distress due to the heat. Farmers are also worried about the deplorable situation.

Jawai Bandh Dam is the only source of drinking water for the natives in the Pali district. Water is supplied to the entire Pali district from the Jawai Bandh. As of now, the news states that water supplies for only one and a half months are left in the dam. As per the experts, it is not raining in western Rajasthan due to a lack of low pressure. As seen in the Local 18 Rajasthan visual, a priest and four people, are sitting beside an Agni kund and chanting the mantras. They are also placing the offerings in the Kund as a mark of respect for the deities.

According to the official data from the India Meteorological Department, Rajasthan has seen over 51% less rain this year compared to 2023. The state recorded 306.1 millimetres of rainfall till July 22 last year, which is above 144.7 mm against the normal 161.4 mm. This year, the state has recorded 157 mm of rain till July 22, around 4.4 mm less than the normal range.
